Surface Tension Definition
It is well known that we can explain the properties of liquids in terms of the mutual attraction between molecules. This intermolecular attraction is called molecular cohesion or van der Waals force. Surface tension, interfacial tension and similar phenomena are the basic physical phenomena used to explain molecular cohesion.
Specifically, the molecules that make up the liquid experience different forces on the surface than in the bulk. The forces on the molecules in the bulk are symmetrical and balanced. The molecules on the surface, on the other hand, are attracted by the molecules in the bulk without the opposite balancing force. That is to say, it is subjected to a force that is pulled into the body. That is to say, try to reduce the surface area, so that this unbalanced state tends to the equilibrium state. The thermodynamic statement is: To minimize the surface energy of the system, this force is called "surface tension", which is also the free energy per unit area (J/m2), that is, the interface that forms or expands per unit area. Minimum energy required. Its value is consistent with the surface tension (N/m). Due to habit, surface tension is commonly used to express surface free energy, which plays a crucial role in the physical and chemical phenomena of liquid surfaces. In daily life, the dew on the lotus leaf in the morning and the curved water surface in the cup are all surface tension phenomena.
Flexible and versatile surface/interfacial tension measurement methods
This serie tensiometer provides many expansion modules to expand the application scope of the instrument, which is used to measure various characteristics of surfaces and interfaces, which greatly improves the flexibility of its use. The main measurement principle is to accurately obtain the force between the measurement accessory or the sample to be measured when it is wetted by liquid. The instrument uses standard methods including the Du Nouy ring method. to measure the surface and interfacial tension of liquids. In addition, the instrument can be used to accurately measure the density of liquids with the necessary optional accessories.
The spacious sample room is equipped with a transparent glass sliding door, which can protect the room from disturbed airflow. A built-in electronic level aids in precise adjustment of the sample stage for precise force measurement.
The built-in measurement program can control the sample stage to ensure that there is no human interference in the measurement process. The running speed can be adjusted according to the experimental requirements and can be accurately repeated. The use of a dynamic, smooth-running drive eliminates negative vibrations. In addition, the long-term drift of the mechanical sensor is minimized.
Through the 7-inch touch screen, simple and intuitive operation is realized. Intuitive operation on the touch screen is a feature of the new generation of tensiometers, allowing easy control of the sample stage and other components before and during a measurement.
Built-in measurement data management menu, easy to view data and support external printer(Optional accessories) operation. All measurement data files can be transferred through a USB flash drive to convert to Excel files for easy management, recording and organization of measurement data.
The machine program has a password management function to ensure that the data can be traced and prevent data modification and accidental deletion.
